New Delhi: The Ramnath Kovind panel has submitted its report to President Draupadi Murmu regarding ‘One Country, One Election’. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also included in this committee. Shah reacted when the report was submitted to the President. He described the recommendation to hold simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies as a ‘historic day’ for the democratic system. The committee has recommended holding simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies as a first step in the report. Report of more than 18000 pages
In the more than 18,000-page report submitted to President Draupadi Murmu, the Ramnath Kovind-led committee has mentioned many things. The panel said that holding simultaneous elections will promote the development process and social cohesion. This will deepen the foundation of the democratic tradition and help in realizing the aspirations of ‘India that is Bharat’.

Amit Shah said in a post on ‘X’, ‘Today is a historic day for the democratic system of the country. The report of the high level committee constituted on ‘One Country – One Election’ under the chairmanship of Ram Nath Kovind on behalf of the Modi government, was presented before President Draupadi.
The committee has recommended that the Election Commission of India prepare a single voter list and voter identity card in consultation with the state election authorities. The committee has recommended several more constitutional amendments. Most of these will not require approval from states.
