Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan met with the re-elected Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
They discussed the range of issues they should work on for the benefit of improving the health of the population.
“I mentioned the reforms undertaken in recent years: the process of introducing comprehensive health insurance, development of the primary health care link, encouraging and promoting a healthy lifestyle, which are aimed at improving and maintaining health, as well as developing the system. It is noteworthy that our priorities completely coincide and are equivalent to the international trends, in particular, to those of the troubled countries,” said Avanesyan.
He invited Dr. Tedros to Armenia to participate in the 5th Global Meeting of Rapid Response Medical Teams to be held in Yerevan in October.
During the meeting, reference was also made to the centuries-old relations between the peoples of Armenia and Ethiopia, who have a lot in common.
“We pointed out with Dr. Tedros how deep is the historical past between our peoples,” the minister noted.
