Anastasios Tsinas, the dean of the Department of Agriculture of the Agricultural School, was taken to his last residence at noon, who suddenly passed away, plunging the academic community and the local society of Epirus into grief.

Relatives, friends and colleagues said goodbye to the professor at the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios in Filiates Thesprotia, his place of origin. The 58-year-old professor had not shown signs of life in the previous days, did not appear at the School and did not answer the phones, as a result of which the police authorities were informed on Friday. Police officers went to the house where he lived in Arta and found his body. The death is most likely due to natural causes, however the forensic examination is expected to give clear answers.
Anastasios Tsinas was a graduate and doctor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the AUTH and was a professor of the Department of Agricultural Technologists of the TEI of Epirus, specializing in “Agricultural Animal Pathology and Veterinary Pharmacology”.
From February 2013 until November 2017 he was Deputy President of TEI Epirus with responsibilities for Academic Affairs, Personnel, Student Care & Building Facilities. From December 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018, he was Rector of the former TEI of Epirus.

Ioannina Member of Parliament of the New Left, Meropi Tzoufi, who worked with the deceased during her term as Deputy Minister of Education, expressed her sincere condolences for the sudden loss of the professor. “We will remember him with respect and appreciation as a very lively and exuberant personality with whom we worked well for the essential upgrade of T.E.I. of Epirus and Agricultural studies”, he notes.
The former rector of the University, Triantafyllos Albanis, also expressed his warm condolences, noting that his untimely death leaves a great void in the academic community and in the hearts of those who knew him, while referring to his contribution to the smooth integration of its administrative services and academic departments former TEI of Epirus at the University of Ioannina. “His dynamic and continuous presence in the Senate of the University was governed by elements of critical thinking, composed speech and prudence that reflected high administrative ability.
