With true Korean enthusiasm, Anita Tsoi continues her musical journey into her jubilee year, launched back in February with the unprecedented 5Okean television show that aired live on her birthday. Experiencing and reevaluating what has already been lived and done, fantasizing and gushing with new ventures, the popular artist seems to do everything to confuse even the most attentive and persistent of her fans as much as possible.
On the way from the anniversary TV show on her birthday, February 7, to the big concert in the Kremlin, scheduled for October, if the insidious virus does not revolt again, Anita Tsoi could not afford to leave her music lovers on a starvation diet. A lush musical cake baked for the anniversary should not dry up in musical bins, waiting for the autumn tasting, especially since its juicy ingredients literally ask to be “tasted” even by the pickiest ear.
All the musical material of “5Okean” is now “cut” like a birthday cake into fatty pieces and will be served with mouth-watering desserts to the music table throughout the summer. The singer admits that the album publishers pushed her to such a non-standard decision. They considered the musical component of the new program so diverse that they offered to release each part as a separate mini-disc. This is how the idea of five discs with the material of the “5Okean” program was born, where each part has its own musical accent.
“Five decades, five stages of my life, styles of music that have greatly influenced me … If you disassemble my work, you can see it all: rock, disco, R’N’B, and pop of the 70s, – explains Anita Tsoi. – My first musical experiences, the time of my bright childhood and my first acquaintance with the big world of music, are associated with the records that my mother loved. She listened to them to their holes, and with her I did: the magical voices of Edith Piaf, Maya Kristalinskaya, Muslim Magomayev, Anna German and wonderful melodies in pop-symphonic arrangements. I wanted to plunge headlong into that bright, serene time, full of romantic lightness, wonderful music and the anticipation of a lifetime. “
The artist rearranged several of her famous hits and works in a nostalgic pop-symphonic key: “Calls”, “Winter-Summer”, “Take Care of Me”, “Mom” – and combined them into the EP “Ocean of Music”.
At the same time, Anita Tsoi’s reading of not strangers, but her own famous hits in the musical style of the corresponding decade with a symphonic orchestra conducted by Igor Razumovsky turned out so organic in the context of what was conceived that many songs are difficult to recognize by the first notes. There would still be that mystery even for the most experienced participants in the former TV game “Guess the melody”.
In the same “merciless” way, the singer and arrangers Alexei Sakharov and Kirill Umansky dealt with other famous works of Mrs. Tsoi, which, in her feelings, reflected the spirit and mood of the musical decades she lived through. This week, to the romantic melodies in the spirit of the 70s, the fiery disco rhythms of the 80s (EP “Ocean of Light”) with the hits “Million Minutes”, “Probably, This Is Love”, “Crazy Happiness” and others were added this week. “Ocean of Freedom” with the rock of changes of the 90s, the iconic rock ballad “Flight” and other hits; “Ocean of Love” – with carefree and generous R’N’B of the 2000s; “Ocean of Desires and Dreams” – with pulsating and multifaceted rhythms of today, where many experimental works by Anita Tsoi will be performed, which have recently collected lively and even polar assessments.
Thanks to the new arrangements, well-known songs are literally taking on a second life, and it is possible that, taken by the public for “cool fresh”, they will again reshuffle the lines of the music charts and hit parades. This whole exciting musical trip will end by the autumn concert premiere in the Kremlin with the big album “5Okean”, in which the restless Anita Tsoi promises to include several more completely new musical compositions.
At the same time, one of the sources of “power of inspiration”, as the artist likes to express herself, for her was the recent performance of Manizhi with the number Russian Woman at the Eurovision Song Contest -2021 in Rotterdam. “The guys did very well, I think they are great,” Anita Tsoi rejoices for her colleagues. As MK has already said, the singer literally “terrorized” her many friends and acquaintances abroad, urging them to vote for Manija, since she herself did not have such an opportunity – the competition rules do not allow voting for a participant in her country. However, this inspiration also has an entertaining background – Anita Tsoi was pleasantly surprised by an unexpected coincidence, which, by her own admission, “amazed, wildly delighted and even inspired.”
“I understand that this is an absolute coincidence, but in my last show“ 10/20 ”five years ago I sang a Korean song, where I went on stage in a similar painted national dress-dress, I also opened the door in it and went on stage already in a rock suit. It is wonderful that life’s creative ideas seem to be in the air and inspire to bright and, most importantly, in each case, original solutions ”, – he heartily admires the findings of a colleague that have inspired the whole of Europe, who has survived five musical decades, is highly experienced and has not yet exhausted all the fantasies of her creative ocean Anita Tsoi.
