The Minister of Oil in the National Unity Government, Mohamed Aoun, denied receiving any memorandum from the Administrative Control Authority regarding his suspension from work.

In statements to the Fawasel platform, Aoun confirmed that the authority’s decision would be subject to legal review, and said, “Every incident has its own story.”

The Administrative Control Authority issued a statement yesterday, announcing the “precautionary” suspension of Aoun from his position as Minister of Oil and Gas, based on Article 31 of the law establishing it.

The suspension decision, according to the statement, came based on the recommendation of the Director of the General Department of Investigation at the Authority, and in light of the course of the investigation in Case No. 178, which revealed “legal violations.”

Today, the Minister of Oil and Gas chaired the seventh regular meeting for the year 2024, to follow up on the work of the departments, offices and entities affiliated with the Ministry, at the Ministry of Oil and Gas, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Company for Gas Transport and Distribution, general managers, office directors, and ministry advisors.

The body, charged with supervising government performance, has powers that include vetoing appointments to public positions and promoting public accountability.
