The Southern Zone of the Army was created on 1 April 1895 with headquarters at Pune, Maharashtra. Under it, there are two divisions with headquarters at Jodhpur and Bhopal.

Under South Zone, 11 states and four union territories come. Under this, there are 19 cantonment areas and 36 military camps. Earlier, the Air Force Day parade celebrated on Oct. 8 will be held at the Air Force base in Chandigarh this year.
