jpnn.com – WHILE – The North Sumatra All-Indonesian Football Association Provincial Association (Asprov PSSI Sumut) appointed Indra Sjafri as consultant for the North Sumatra football team which will compete in the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON).
The North Sumatra PSSI Asprov’s move to collaborate with Indra Sjafri is an effort to achieve the best results for the North Sumatra football team in the biggest sporting event in Indonesia.
Acting Chairman of the North Sumatra PSSI Asprov Arya Sinulingga said the appointment of Indra Sjafri, who is currently the Indonesian U-20 National Team Coach as a consultant, was of course a serious step taken in the formation of the North Sumatra PON team.
It is hoped that Indra Sjafri’s presence will be able to create a team that is truly of the quality that is desired. A team that is truly unified and capable of bringing achievements to PON later with quality player material.
“We also ask him to become an advisor in the selection of players in Medan later,” said Arya Sinulingga in Medan, North Sumatra, Tuesday (26/3).
He revealed that the purpose of the selection was to look for seeds or potential players who could enter the North Sumatra PON Team. “Selection will be held openly starting April 18,” he said.
From the results of this selection, the selected players will be combined with existing players.
Furthermore, all the players combined will be subject to promotion and relegation, until players are found who will fill and become the backbone of the North Sumatra PON football team.
