The assembly of Russian Aurus cars began at a production site in Abu Dhabi (UAE), the first model was the Aurus Senat sedan, said Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
“Production started today. It is planned to release Senat and Komendant. Let’s start with Senat,” said he (quote from TASS).
Manturov also said that plans remain to open a salon for the sale and customization of Aurus cars in the UAE. The brand will also expand its presence in the Middle East, the Deputy Prime Minister added.
In October, it became known that Russia and Saudi Arabia are discussing the possibility of opening a dealer and service network for Aurus cars in the country. The parties also considered the supply of Kamaz-54901 truck tractors and Gazelle Next vehicles to Saudi Arabia.
Aurus cars belong to the executive and upper class. The line includes a limousine, sedan, minivan and SUV. Russian President Vladimir Putin travels in one of these cars.
At the beginning of August, the head of state suggested that Russian officials switch from foreign cars to domestically produced cars. At the same time, Russia does not need to refuse imports, but “some basic things” should be focused on domestic producers, Putin clarified. Aurus CEO Andrei Pankov stated that the automaker has the necessary production resources to meet the needs of the state.
