Kochi: Anv’s desire to study abroad in Ernakulam Nduvannoor was stopped when the bank loan was denied for the land where the Silver Line project was nailed. All the three banks that he approached to finance his studies in Canada refused loans to Anvin on the basis of the K Rail link.

SBI is of the view that the loan cannot be given against the land secured by K Rail. SBI Nedumbassery branch manager explained that the bank’s policy is to grant loans only on the collateral of foreclosed land.
A complaint was raised earlier that the housewife was not allowed to grow crops in her homestead due to her leading the anti-K Rail protest in Kottayam Madapalli. It has been alleged that some of the locals have systematically opposed to stop the cultivation of palm leaves in the homestead of Roslyn Philip, a housewife who was injured in the police action during the strike.
Roslyn Philip is the face of the anti-K rail movement in Madapalli. The fact that Roslin was dragged by the police during the protest was very controversial. Later, Roslyn was in the leadership of the struggle. The land owned by Roslin’s husband is about one kilometer away from the protest venue in Madapalli. Due to the opposition of the local people, the move to cultivate hand-fruit on an area of one acre of land had to be abandoned. Kaita saplings were planted but when the locals complained, all the saplings planted had to be uprooted and replaced. Roslin alleges that some government supporters in the area are deliberately not allowing him to grow crops in his homestead because of his participation in the anti-K Rail movement.
Police and agriculture department officials intervened in the problem. But the officials of both the departments are not ready to confirm Roslin’s allegation that palm cultivation was stopped due to political reasons. Officials of the Agriculture Department say that in many places where palm oil is cultivated, opposition from the locals is natural. Officials explain that in most places, the reason for the opposition is the concern of the locals, including about the pesticides used for agriculture.
