If you can’t sit at home in the pre-New Year’s bustle, you can go to the forest to pick mushrooms. This is exactly what several Belarusians did – and harvested the harvest right for the festive table. Look what mushrooms are growing in the forests now.
Bobruisk resident Antonina Sokolova is an avid mycelium hunter; she goes on “silent hunts” from May to December. I decided to get out into the forest before the holiday, December 30, writes “Evening Bobruisk”.

“I was just tired of sitting in the city, tired of everything and decided to take a walk through the forest in the Krapivka area,” says the woman. “I didn’t really expect to find mushrooms, I just wanted to take a walk.” But as a big fan of “silent hunting”, of course, I looked around. I found about three liters of honey mushrooms, one brilliant green and several green mushrooms. These are winter honey mushrooms; in December they can be found in our forests. The time of the greenbacks has passed, but it was quite warm, and thanks to the snow, they were preserved. Three years ago in January I collected almost a basket of chanterelles! This time the foxes did not meet.

The woman boiled the mushrooms and added a little vinegar while cooking to lighten them. He plans to fry mushrooms for the New Year’s table.

“The harvest may be small, but it’s so nice to smell fresh mushrooms in winter!” – Antonina smiles.

But the case of the Belarusian woman is not so rare. For example, one of the readers of Newgrodno.by went on reconnaissance to pine forests popular with mushroom pickers in the area of the landfill outside Gozha.

— Successful departure. Before the New Year, I collected some green stuff,” says the man. He says that in previous years he closed the season much earlier. Another social media user shares a bowl full of greens. True, where he collected it is not recognized.

Belarusians also boast that they have found winter mushrooms and even saffron milk caps. But some mushrooms are not entirely young: they grew in the fall and then froze, and that’s why they are so well preserved. A debate arises on social networks: is it possible to eat them? Someone cites ordinary summer mushrooms from the home freezer as an example, saying that the cold had no effect on them.
