Between accusations, Coahuila candidates debate with citizens; propose economic balance and open governments

A few days after the first debate organized by the Electoral Institute of Coahuila, the candidates for the governorship of the entity met again this Wednesday in a similar exercise, but now a citizen.

This meeting took place at the Saltillo Campus of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, and the participating candidates were Manolo Jiménez Salinas, from the Alianza Ciudadana por la Seguridad coalition, from the PRI, PAN and PRD parties; Armando Guadiana, from Morena; Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, from the PT, and Lenin Pérez Rivera, from the Rescatemos Coahuila coalition, made up of the UDC and Green Ecologist parties.

In addition, business leaders were also present, since the organized entity was Coparmex, journalists, academics, and other civil society leaders.

The topics in which the candidates most abounded were financial, with debt centrally, and security, although they also emphasized health, economic development and education.

STATE FINANCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Regarding the state’s finances and the debt of Coahuila, Manolo Jiménez highlighted his career in the private initiative to give transit to the entity, while in economic development, he opted to maintain job stability, the rule of law and security, all in conjunction with a specific plan for each of the regions of Coahuila, which has the same impact on the economic as well as on the social.

Armando Guadiana reproached an alleged lack of political will to launch the necessary projects to achieve a balance in all the regions of Coahuila, while, regarding the debt, he announced that this week he will ratify the complaints that he has filed against those responsible.

Ricardo Mejía Berdeja outlined the creation of logistics corridors for all regions, particularly from La Laguna, for this purpose, and asked by those present about how to start this project, the applicant opted for improving infrastructure, communications and providing incentives , with a government that is not centralist.

Finally, Lenin Pérez saw it possible to balance the economy, which is why he mentioned the need for highway axes and connectivity, a modern and even vision between each of the regions of Coahuila.

In general, the four candidates outlined the need for citizen governments and committed to full transparency and accountability.

SAFETY AND EDUCATION

In security, Jiménez Salinas said that he will strengthen the corresponding areas, with greater social proximity, more equipped and prepared bodies, investment in infrastructure and prevention and fight against addictions. In education, he announced the creation of financing programs for entrepreneurs.

In the same vein, Armando Guadiana accused that currently “security is on the line”, and said that his main actions will be the creation of a Scientific Police, as well as the implementation of a panic bracelet, specifically for women.

In education and care for children, at the question of the leaders present, Lenin Pérez pondered prioritizing what he described as “collapsed schools”, through investment in infrastructure, while Ricardo Mejía Berdeja made references to criminal indicators in terms of family violence and against women.

OTHER PROPOSALS

Lenin Pérez stressed the urgency of an open government, together with mechanisms that allow, with the support of information technologies, that citizens can monitor the use of public resources, beyond the current figures entrusted to these functions. , in whom he accused alleged complicity for corrupt acts.

Regarding care for women who have been violated, Manolo Jiménez took advantage of the reply space to announce the proposal for a Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, as well as more shelters for the victims of these crimes.

CLOSURE OF EACH CANDIDATE

After this and after thanking each one of the attendees to this citizen exercise, the closing time for each candidate was proceeded.

Armando Guadiana, from Morena, asked to bet on “a real change”, called for the vote this coming June 4 and for an increasing involvement of citizens with the Government, supporting whom he described as “the friend of you know who.”

Lenin Pérez, from the UDC and the Green Party, said that he knows how to “beat the PRI”, assured that he has the necessary experience to govern and appealed in this regard to the trust of the citizens so that the next state administration can be fairer, honest and with better driving.

Manolo Jiménez, a candidate for governor of Coahuila for the PRI, the PAN and the PRD, acknowledged that there are areas of opportunity, but he said he was convinced that he could attend to them, in collaboration with the citizens, if they favor him with the vote. He asked to put aside polarization and anger, work in unity, innovate and “change what needs to be improved”, indicating that what is at stake on June 4 is “the present and the future” of the state.

Finally, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, postulated by the PT, asserted that “the PRI is going outside”, launching accusations against Jiménez Salinas for the issue of state debt, for which he asked citizens to bet on “a change”, calling himself ” a rebel with a cause”, but “with values ​​and principles”.

Thus, with new indications despite the calls against the confrontations and the prioritization of the proposals, this citizen debate between the four candidates for the governorship of Coahuila closed, with a next exercise, organized by the IEC, scheduled for this 1st of May.
