Big Brother VIP (photo by Micah Loubton) The pain is great in the State of Israel on Purim 2024. There is no doubt that this year’s celebrations are not like in previous years. In the shadow of the ‘Iron Swords’ war and the fact that 134 Israelis are still abducted in Gaza and held captive by Hamas, Liron Weizman, presenter of Big Brother on Network 13, writes how she celebrates what should be her happiest day, her birthday, which is today. Weizman wrote: “So how do you celebrate in such a complex time, and should you at all? Who cares that I was actually born and how stupid it suddenly seems to celebrate a birthday. I had a lot of thoughts for the round birthday that is happening in a few weeks, but it was brought forward because my beautiful sister is getting married.”

She continued: “So many people around us are bad. Bad of the very bad kind. So who am I, to dress nicely and cheer for my birth, while people among us are dying in the Hamas tunnels, others are torn from their homes, businesses are collapsing, injured are being rehabilitated. So many families in the year But. What is there to celebrate at all? What is important?”.

The veteran waitress continued: “OK, so all these thoughts went through my head and actually still do, and yet it happened. I ordered. And I hugged. And we drank and laughed. And for a moment there was some sense of sanity. We celebrated life for a moment.”

At the end she shared: “For a moment, we felt some kind of spark of sanity or a sample of how life once looked and how, maybe, after we recover, if we recover, it will look like. And really? It was good. Like such a great sigh of relief, even if for a few hours. Because Probably, after all, we also deserve to breathe a little. And lift up to life, for other days, Amen.”
