MUMBAI: Amid reports that the Lok Sabha election date will be announced soon, there are rumors that the BJP may field Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Madhuri Dixit in Maharashtra. The reports have come out as the NDA alliance talks in the state are progressing. Out of the six seats in Mumbai, the BJP is expected to contest in five and the Shiv Sena Shinde faction in one.

With the aim of attracting youth votes, BJP is preparing to field Bollywood stars. But the party circles have not informed the official decision in this regard. Similarly, there were rumors that cricketer Yuvraj Singh will contest from Punjab on a party ticket. But Yuvraj later clarified that he is not into politics.
It is reported that the BJP may re-contest all the sitting MPs in Mumbai except Poonam Mahajan. This time, the BJP candidate will contest in the South Mumbai constituency, which was ruled in favor of the Shiv Sena in the last parliamentary elections. It is reported that Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar will be a candidate here.
Manoj Kotak will continue in North East Mumbai. The approximate picture will become clear once the list of candidates for the second phase of BJP comes out. In the first phase, 195 people were included in the BJP list.
The seat sharing talks are also in progress in the opposition alliance Mahavikas Aghadi. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s NCP are the main parties in the opposition alliance. The two leaders had earlier agreed to cooperate with the ‘India’ alliance with the Congress.
