According to one of the statements, Blinken “thanked President Aliyev for his commitment to a strong and representative peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.” The US Secretary of State said that “the protracted conflict has caused suffering to both Azerbaijan and Armenia”, and also noted that the peace agreement is “beneficial to everyone in the region”. In addition, Blinken discussed the bilateral relations between the USA and Azerbaijan with Aliyev, “noted the latest concerns” and also referred to “the possibilities of strengthening cooperation”.
In another statement, the head of the press service of the US foreign policy noted that Blinken “discussed US support” in his conversation with Pashinyan for efforts to reach a peace agreement. At the same time, the Secretary of State announced “support for Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity” and noted “efforts to increase bilateral cooperation with Armenia”.
