Microblogging service Bluesky from Twitter creator Jack Dorsey allowed all users can view posts on the social network. Previously, only registered users had access to publications; registration was by invitation. Bluesky also introduced a new logo in the shape of a butterfly.

If Bluesky users do not want other people to be able to read their posts, they can do so in the settings. This does not make their profile private, and other apps may not take this setting into account. According to Bluesky CEO Jay Graber, Bluesky “is an open and public social network.” The new butterfly logo replaces the previous one, which featured a blue sky with clouds.

Previously, Bluesky collapsed from the influx of new users amid statements from the social network X (formerly Twitter) about disabling blacklists. Jack Dorsey launched Bluesky in March 2023 after leaving Twitter. The social network operates on the open standard Authenticated Transfer Protocol (AT), which assumes a decentralized social network.
