Once again, Boeing 737 Max aircraft are being withdrawn from service. This comes after an incident in which a fuselage part separated from one of the aircraft.

At the headquarters of the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing, the worst memories are likely to be brought back of the events around five years ago, when a flight ban was imposed on the 737 Max model series after several accidents resulting in fatalities. The ban lasted more than a year and a half. After another incident in Canada at the beginning of the weekend, more and more airlines are now pulling the ripcord and temporarily taking certain variants of the plane out of service. The reason for the turbulence is a part of the fuselage that fell out, which gave the passengers of a 737 Max a moment of shock at the weekend.

This time, however, the affected jets are exclusively the 737 Max 9 model variant. On Sunday, Turkish Airlines announced that five of the relevant aircraft had been recalled for checks “as a safety precaution”. They would initially stay on the ground where they land. Aeromexico and Panamanian airline Copa Airlines also announced that they would ground their 737 Max 9s. Alaska Airlines and United Airlines, which has the largest fleet of 737 Max 9s in the world, have also taken aircraft from the series out of service for inspection.
