A bomb threat at the Fort Lauderdale City Airport this Sunday caused chaos and panic among passengers, which ended up revolutionizing the facilities and the police forces.

The alarm paralyzed part of the activities at the air terminal. In fact, the police activated the security protocol and mobilized the anti-explosive team to investigate the origin of the threat, indicated a report from the Telemundo 51 network.

Affected by the evacuation of the second floor of terminal 1, where the police operation was concentrated, many of these travelers had to run with their luggage to other terminals, and others waited half confused for some information to be given to them.

An adult man was detained for questioning about the bomb alert, reported from the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Florida, near Miami. In this sense, the presence of explosives was ruled out and the terminal was reopened.

Likewise, passengers who had missed their flights or had pending connections faced long lines to go through security.

In addition, on the outskirts of the airport, traffic was affected by the temporary closure of said terminal. Flightaware, a website that monitors air traffic, reported that around 440 flights departing from that airport suffered delays and delays of several hours. Others did have to be cancelled.
