Brands appearing with the Apple code for the upcoming mixed reality headset

by time news

Trademark filings monitored by Bloomberg suggest that Apple may be incorporating “reality” into the name and branding of the long-rumored mixed reality headset.

Three separate files show trademarks for “Reality One”, “Reality Pro” and “Reality Processor”, matching the reality name that appeared in Apple’s code and the trademark application potentially referring to the headset’s operating system.

The applications were not made by Apple itself, but by a company called Immersive Health Solutions, LLC.

Companies like Apple often use fictitious company names when applying for a patent or trademark to help keep their plans private.

But as Bloomberg notes, Delaware-based Immersive Health Solutions is registered by the Trust Trust Co. Another shell company has also appeared on the realityOS brand.

In addition to the United States, applications have also been submitted in the European Union, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica and Uruguay.

All three files refer to “virtual and augmented reality headsets, glasses, glasses and smart glasses”. The trademark “Reality One” is likely referring to the name of the headset itself.

While “Reality Pro” refers to a version with enhanced specifications that Apple has planned for the future, in keeping with the same “Pro” moniker that Apple applies to high-end devices, at the same time, the name “Reality Processor” may refer to the headphone processing unit, which is rumored to be M2 chip.

The apps appeared a little more than a week before Apple’s “Far Out” event, but the mixed reality headset is unlikely to appear.

The headset is rumored to allow for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences and games, including VR versions of Apple Maps and FaceTime, and possibly even experiences based on Hollywood movies.

Apple’s board of directors reportedly tested the headset again in May, but Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts it won’t hit the market until January 2023.
