In the early hours of this Tuesday (26/03), the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, United States, collapsed into the Patapsco River after a cargo ship collided with the structure.

A massive search operation is underway for at least six people, officials say, while two people have already been rescued from the water.

Maryland Secretary of Transportation Paul J. Wiedefeld held a press conference, stating that there were workers working on the bridge at the time of the collapse, carrying out repairs to the concrete surface.

He added that all maritime traffic in and out of the Port of Baltimore has been suspended while the search and rescue mission continues.
