The White House, along with the rest of the United States, is thinking of Britain’s Princess Kate, who has announced that she has cancer and is undergoing preventive chemotherapy, and wishes her a full recovery. His spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre stated this today. Forty-two-year-old Kate announced her diagnosis in a video released by Kensington Palace in the early evening.
In the video, 42-year-old Kate asked for “time, space and privacy” during treatment for cancer, the type of which she did not specify.
“Obviously it was a big shock and William and I are doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine it took time. I needed time to recover from major surgery and be able to to start treatment. But most of all we needed time to explain everything properly to George, Charlotte and Louis and reassure them that I will be fine,” Kate said, referring to her three young children with Prince William, the heir to the throne.
Until today’s announcement, Kensington Palace had not shared much about the princess’s health. He said only that the abdominal problem was not cancer-related, that the operation was a success and that the Princess of Wales would be out of her duties until April due to her recovery.
“I feel good,” Kate said in today’s video. “I’m getting stronger every day as I focus on things that will help me heal,” added the wife of the heir to the throne.
“I had major abdominal surgery in London in January and it was assumed that I was cancer free. The surgery was successful. But tests after the surgery showed that the cancer was there. My medical team therefore recommended preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of this treatment,” Kate also said in the video, in which she also thanked the messages of support and singled out the “fantastic medical team” who had taken excellent care of her in recent months, for which she expressed her gratitude.
Buckingham Palace said today that King Charles III. and Queen Camilla will continue to offer love and support to the whole family as they go through a difficult time. According to a palace spokesman, King Charles is proud of Kate for her courage in speaking out and has been “in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law over the past weeks”.
Also according to British Prime Minister Rishi sunaka the princess of wales now needs privacy to focus on her treatment. According to Sunak, Kate has shown immense bravery and some media have treated her unfairly. Opposition Labor leader Keir Starmer said he was “encouraged by the optimistic tone” of the princess and her “message of faith and hope”.
Kate has not been seen in public since Christmas. However, this week a video emerged in the media showing Kate and Prince William at a farmer’s market in Windsor over the weekend. Earlier on Mother’s Day, Kensington Palace released a photo of Kate with her three children, apparently in an attempt to quell all sorts of rumours. However, it soon became clear that the photo had been slightly edited, forcing the media to take it down and the public continuing to be confused.
Britain’s King Kare III is also currently being treated for an unspecified cancer. Buckingham Palace made the announcement in early February not long after the 75-year-old monarch underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate. He was diagnosed with cancer. The King underwent the procedure at the same hospital and at the same time as Kate.
King Karel does not participate in public events due to his treatment, but continues to fulfill some of his duties of a more administrative nature. Photographs of him receiving government officials were also published.
Princess Kate, originally Catherine Middleton, married William in 2011. The wedding boosted the popularity of the British royal family around the world. Kate is the eldest of three children. The Middletons do not have an aristocratic background.
