BTS Tour Sparks Outrage Over Hotel Cancellations and Price Gouging
Fans eager to see BTS on their upcoming 2026 world tour are facing a new hurdle: alleged price gouging and questionable cancellation practices by hotels in Busan, South Korea. The controversy comes as ticket prices for the tour itself are also drawing criticism.
The issues began following the announcement of concert dates for Busan on June 12 and 13. Almost immediately, hotel prices in the area reportedly increased by as much as tenfold. However, the situation escalated when hotels began requesting cancellations from customers who had already secured reservations.
One hotel’s explanation, shared widely on social media, has ignited a firestorm of criticism. According to a post circulating online, the hotel stated: “With the release of BTS’s Busan concert dates, we’ve received tons of reservations at the same time. Because we received more reservations than rooms, there are none available. We apologize, but could you please cancel your reservation? We apologize once again.”
Fans reacted with disbelief and accusations of dishonesty. “Even if you received tons of reservations, I reserved a room, so what does this have to do with me? Is it because you’re trying to raise your prices?” one fan questioned, as reported by Koreaboo.
Social media platforms are filled with similar complaints and accusations. One user posted, translated from Korean, “They really be trying everything to make more money.” Another stated, “There are so many people who shouldn’t be doing business in Korea.” A third user commented, “That is such a common excuse. To demand cancellation after the dates are released. Fans must be frustrated.”

The situation highlights a growing concern about opportunistic pricing during major events. This isn’t the first instance of backlash surrounding the BTS tour; HYBE, the entertainment company behind the group, is already facing criticism for what many fans consider exorbitant ticket prices.
The unfolding events in Busan underscore the challenges fans face when attempting to support their favorite artists, and raise questions about ethical business practices during periods of high demand.
