Scandal in Spanish cycling. The thing is that an anonymous person tried to dirty the Caja Rural team by linking it to Operation Ilex, the same one for which Miguel Ángel López is provisionally suspended.

As reported by the team itself in a statement, someone sent a document to various media outlets with the intention of linking the Navarrese team, and among the names mentioned was that of the Venezuelan Orluis Aular. Also, they made it clear that none of the team members are being investigated.
In fact, according to El País, there would be messages between Aular and the sanctioned doctor, Marcos Maynar, the axis of the Ilex investigation. As the document was sent during the Vuelta a España, the South American was sent home under the pretext of being sick.
The same media indicated that the leak was made by someone linked to a Spanish team dissatisfied with not participating in the Hispanic event.
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
«The Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team confirms that it has filed a complaint with the Civil Guard in which it has reported the events that occurred during La Vuelta España 2023:
–The team was the victim of a partial, biased and decontextualized dissemination of a police report contained in a judicial file. [Operación Ilex]
–That the information that appears refers to a small part of a judicial investigation procedure of possible crimes against public health and sport in which neither the team nor any of its members is involved.
–This dissemination is protected by anonymity with the sole objective of harming the team and its components.
– It was sent by email and by postal mail to people directly linked to professional cycling with the aim of damaging the reputation of this Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team.
Considering all of the above, the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team has informed the Civil Guard of these facts through the corresponding complaint in case they could constitute a crime.
Since the complainant is unaware of the person or persons responsible for the events, the complaint is not directed against a specific person, and this is expressly reflected in the complaint.
In any case, and without prejudice to the foregoing, the team expressly reserves any action that may correspond to it against the person or persons responsible for the malicious and partial dissemination of the reference report to preserve its good name, image and any type of rights that could have been violated.
