(Web Desk) Diplomatic tension between India and Canada has reached its peak in view of the murder of Khalistan Movement activist Hardeep Singh Najjar and both have expelled each other’s diplomats.

The diplomatic dispute escalated over the inclusion of the Indian ambassador’s name in the investigation into the murder of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh in Canada.

Canadian police say there is evidence that Indian diplomats are taking advantage of their official status for covert activities. In response, India has decided to expel six Canadian diplomats, including the Canadian High Commissioner.

India has given time till October 19 to the Canadian diplomats to leave their country while also recording a protest by calling the Canadian Foreign Office in New Delhi.

India’s foreign ministry said in a statement that Delhi has “decided to expel” six diplomats, including Ottawa’s Acting High Commissioner Stewart Wheeler, his deputy and four first secretaries.

“They have been asked to leave India on or before 11:59 pm on Saturday, October 19,” the statement added.

Shortly after this statement by the Indian government, Canada asked six Indian diplomats, including the ambassador based in Ottawa, to leave the country.

India has dismissed as “ridiculous” Canada’s decision to name its ambassador in Ottawa and several other diplomatic officials as ‘persons of interest’ in the probe into the killing of pro-Khalistan Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Najjar last year. had done

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that the Canadian government has not shared any evidence with the Indian government since Prime Minister Trudeau made some allegations in September 2023.

It should be noted that Sikh leader Hardeep Singh, an active supporter of the Khalistan movement, was killed in Canada last year.
