Accused of complicity in the murder of the rap singer Cancerberocfive people were sentenced to between 15 and 20 years in prison in Venezuela, the Prosecutor’s Office reported this Tuesday.

According to new investigations by the Public Ministry, which reopened the case in 2023, eight years after the artist’s death was attributed to suicide.
Already last February, two brothers – Natalia and Guillermo Améstica – had been sentenced to 25 years in prison, accused as “material authors” of the murder of the singer and his friend Carlos Molnar.

Now the Venezuelan justice system has convicted five other people for, among other crimes, “obstruction of justice,” “criminal association” and “homicide” in a “degree of complicity.”
Marcos Pratolongo, a businessman linked to the local music industry, was sentenced to 20 years and 6 months in prison.

Three police officials accused of having covered up the murder, Gilbert Cruz, Edgar Trillo and Teresa Pinto, were sentenced to 17 years and 4 months in prison; and the pathologist who performed the first tests, Solángela Mendoza, at 15 years and 6 months.
The new investigations into the case of Canserbero, famous for songs such as “Maquiavellico” or “Mundo de Piedra”, ruled out the first version, which indicated that the 26-year-old rapper had jumped from the tenth floor of an apartment building after kill Molnar in a fight.
