The Supreme Court’s Verdict on Jammu and Kashmir Case: Thirumavalavan’s Response

In a recent statement, Thirumavalavan, the leader of the Liberation Tigers of India, expressed shock and disappointment over the Supreme Court’s decision to revoke Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted special status to Kashmir.

Thirumavalavan stated that the judgment was intended to strengthen the bureaucratic functions of the government and would undermine public confidence in the judiciary. He also voiced concerns about the increasing threat to the rights of states and the federal system.

Highlighting the Supreme Court’s failure to address the crucial legal question of converting a state into a union territory, Thirumavalavan criticized the decision to declare Ladakh as a Union Territory. He also questioned the reasoning behind delaying elections in the region until September 30, 2024.

Thirumavalavan asserted that the abrogation of Article 370 had only harmed Jammu and Kashmir and had also affected the entire federal system. He concluded by stating that the people would ignore the court’s position on the matter.

The controversial verdict has sparked intense debate and opposition, with many expressing similar concerns about the implications of the judgment on the federal structure of the country. Thirumavalavan’s strong statement adds to the growing chorus of voices condemning the Supreme Court’s decision.
