There is time until September 15 to participate in Cilento Story, the Torchiara Story Festival literary competition (scheduled from 8 to 10 October), which starts this year with a fascinating theme that leaves plenty of room for creativity: genius and recklessness. Organized by the Matteo and Claudina de Stefano Foundation, in collaboration with the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Buccino and the Cilento Municipalities and with the Licosia Publishing House, the fil rouge of the call for participation is a tribute to the greatest person of the last century, Albert Einstein who, just 100 years ago, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. Author of the Theory of Relativity, Einstein was an eccentric man, friend of great artists, first of all Andy Warhol, as a convinced pacifist he supported the civil rights movements, which is why he was spied and controlled by the FBI, when he moved to America from Germany. The Torchiara Story Festival competition takes up the tradition that, in the past six editions, had led to the competition of many authors and enthusiasts of writing and photography, from all over Italy, and beyond.
Traveling award ceremony
The theme chosen was fun, thinking of the icon of Einstein’s face who sticks out his tongue as a sign of mockery – says Angela Riccio, creator of the event and owner of the Borgo Riccio Historic Residence, which offers hospitality to all participants – so, after two years of closure for the pandemic, we felt it was important to choose a track that was light even if committed, like the character we were inspired by. With over 200 stories received from every Italian region, up to Switzerland, the last edition met with considerable interest. The contest regulations (published on the concorsiletterari.it website), therefore, bring with them the success of previous years, starting from a new guise to indicate an opening to the whole Cilento area: in fact, the award ceremony will have, each time, a itinerant character in the countries that can offer the most beautiful historical centers.
