Clichy-sous-Bois: suspected of having stabbed his roommate to death, he cannot explain the tragedy

It’s a dramatic and obscure fight between Indian roommates against a backdrop of alcohol. A man aged around forty was brought this Saturday to the Bobigny courthouse (Seine-Saint-Denis). He was to be indicted for murder before being presented before the judge of freedoms and detention in the evening. He is suspected of having stabbed his roommate to death Thursday morning in the common areas of his building in Clichy-sous-Bois.

It was 5:40 that morning when the police were called to number 4 of the Bois du Temple residence by a resident who had just discovered an injured person lying in the common areas. When help arrived, the victim, aged 41, stopped breathing. His body has several knife wounds. “He was truly gutted,” explains a source close to the case. The firefighters tried to resuscitate him, in vain. At 6:15 a.m., the doctor officially declared death.

Suspect’s clothes stained with blood

Investigators from the Seine-Saint-Denis departmental judicial police service join their colleagues on site to make initial findings. They follow traces of blood which lead them to an apartment on the sixth floor of the same building. The officials knock on the door. The man inside refuses to open and tries to block access to his home.

In an advanced state of intoxication, he was finally arrested. The police noticed that his clothes were stained with blood and found a knife on the spot. The technical expertise confirms that it is indeed the murder weapon.

The suspect is placed in police custody in the premises of the Bobigny judicial police. During the hearings, this man denied the facts. He does not explain or understand how the tragedy happened. He says the victim lived at his house and they were both drunk. His compatriot left his apartment for an unknown reason. The alleged murderer confirms that he saw that his roommate was injured. But he wouldn’t have noticed that the injury was serious.

He will be questioned on the merits in the coming months by the investigating judge. As time passes, the forty-year-old may be able to provide a more coherent explanation.
