Meanwhile, Max Lawson, his brother, struggles with betrayal and deception on Earth. With the help of a determined team, Max and Jake find themselves in the center of a race against time to avert the impending disaster and protect the planet. Geostorm’s promotional campaign kicked off with the release of the first trailer on March 8, 2017. In the United States, the film was released on October 20, 2017, while Italian audiences were able to enjoy the action on the big screen starting from 1 November 2017. The film also achieved moderate success in the Bel Paese, grossing 1.6 million euros in the first two weeks of programming.

The film was born from conversations between director Dean Devlin and his daughter Hannah, who inspired him to conceive the idea of ​​a machine capable of manipulating the climate. Devlin then brought in screenwriter Paul Guyot to develop the plot and delve into the dynamics between the main characters, particularly between the protagonist brothers. In 2013, the film rights were acquired by Skydance Productions, who then brought the project to Warner Bros. after Paramount Pictures dropped out. Filming began on July 7, 2014 with an initial budget of $82 million. Set primarily in New Orleans, Louisiana, the set locations also include a NASA rocket factory.
