comic book publishers launch their own webtoon platforms

DECRYPTION – Média-Participations and Ankama have created their comic book services designed for mobiles, a format originating in Korea and dominated in France by the Asian groups Piccoma and Naver.

Stories to read from top to bottom on the smartphone screen; scenarios divided into hundreds of chapters filled with twists and published every week; a beginning of intrigue readable free, before paying the continuation in virtual currency. From manufacturing to its economic model, nothing seems to oppose webtoon, this digital format born in South Korea, more to European comics. However, French comic book publishers have decided to take it over.

Last month, the Media-Participations group (Dupuis, Dargaud, Le Lombard, etc.) launched its webtoon platform, Ono, which mixes Asian and local creations.
