BOLZANO. Fifty-four local companies present with their stands in the corridors of the university to establish first contact with potential future collaborators. Eight minutes of conversation to get to know each other and “like” each other. This afternoon (22 March) a concrete initiative took place on the Bolzano campus to combat the brain drain and retain qualified personnel in the South Tyrolean territory: the Job Speed Datinga now established format proposed every year with great success for the new time by Unibz. Around 130 potential collaborators were able to apply for specific job and internship offers, published in advance by the participating companies and bodies on the portal www.jobspeedating.it.
Job Speed Dating is reserved for companies and organizations that offer internship or work opportunities in South Tyrol. As for candidates, participants who study or have studied at universities other than unibz and intend to access a professional career in South Tyrol are also welcome. As usual, the Südtiroler HochschülerInnenschaft and the Alto Adige University Movement were partners of the event, organized by the Internship & Placement Service of the Free University of Bolzano.
The Job Speed Dating numbers were very promising. They took place in two and a half hours more than 600 speed dating sessions with candidates: some were looking for an internship for the summer period, others were recent graduates and still others took advantage of the initiative to try to orient themselves on the local job market. Everyone took advantage of this special opportunity to establish first contact with the companies that best match their career aspirations. If the spark has been lit, speed dating will be followed by a official job interviewwhich could be the start of a structured working collaboration.
“The main objective of Job Speed Dating is to match students and graduates with companies looking for qualified personnel,” he says Iris Tappeinerresponsible for the Internship & Placement Service of unibz, “the event facilitates entry into the world of work and promotes employability and employment. Job Speed Dating also responds to the needs of the local labor market, where we are witnessing a shortage of skilled workers in many professional sectors”.
