Confrontation in News Studio: Knesset Member and Kidnapper’s Brother Clash Over Israeli Hostage Situation

by time news

An unusual confrontation developed today (Friday) in the News 12 studio between Knesset member Matan Kahana and Danny Elgert, the brother of the 68-year-old kidnapper Itzik Elgert. Kahana was asked about the interview the minister had Gadi Eisenkotin which he called for a deal to be made for the release of the Israeli hostages who are being held captive by Hamas.

“We have no moral authority to end the war against Hamas and that’s what Gadi also says,” he noted and added: “He is one of the first to rush to manipulate and push as much as possible. But with the possibility of making a deal on the timeline, we will have to do it, and Gadi will also agree to that.” .

At this point, Elgert interrupted his words, claiming that they are proof that the government is not doing enough to bring about the release of the abductees. “On the timeline, if we get the chance we will make a deal,” he said with a great deal of cynicism.

“Do you understand the language we came to?” he added. Kahane tried to answer him because he didn’t mean it, and the abducted brother attacked: “Don’t tell me no, that’s what you said. If on the timeline there is an opportunity to make a deal, then there are now 136 people who are starving and dying.” The Knesset member replied: “Then I I will correct my words, we need to do everything necessary to bring about a deal for the release of abductees.”

Afterwards, Elgert harshly criticized the government: “They did not do what was necessary on 7/10, and they are not doing what is necessary for the abductees today either. If it was only about the army there would be no problem, we have a mighty army. But we have zero national resilience , and that is why we have been floundering against Hamas for 100 days. In the Yom Kippur War, we were surprised by armies, and within two weeks we recovered, attacked and conquered. Because we had resilience and strong leaders. Hard-working leaders who established the state, who knew how to tell Egypt that not a drop of water would enter them if they did not release the the abductees”.
