The Ministry of Construction and Housing confirmed today, Saturday, that work continues on 5 bridges crossing the Tigris River linking Karkh to Rusafa as part of the first package to relieve traffic congestion.

Ministry spokesman Nabil Al-Saffar said in a statement to the (INA): “The Ministry of Reconstruction is currently working to complete five bridges crossing the Tigris River linking Al-Karkh to Al-Rusafa within the first package to relieve traffic congestion, which are the bridges (Gaza, Al-Jadriya II, Al-Sarrafiya II, and two bridges next to the suspension bridge).” .
He added, “We also have the Kuryaat Bridge project, and it will be included in the second package of bottleneck relief projects. We also have two bridges crossing the Tigris within the Fourth Ring Road project.”
He continued, “Since 1995, no bridges have been implemented, the last of which was the two-story bridge in Baghdad, and the situation remained as it was until projects to relieve bottlenecks were initiated last year.”
