Chennai: Chief Minister MK Stalin has advised the District Collectors that we should all be prepared to face any situation and ensure that everyone who qualifies is vaccinated.

The number of corona infections in Tamil Nadu is gradually increasing. In this context, Chief Minister MK Stalin yesterday held a video conference with district collectors on corona prevention measures and vaccination activities.

The Chief Minister spoke at the meeting: The Corona 2nd wave was heading towards its peak when this government took charge. In that dire situation, we have taken all the necessary steps immediately and controlled it to some extent by your hard work. As a result, we have greatly reduced the number of casualties and casualties.

Vaccination tasks

Of the 6.33 crore people eligible for vaccination in Tamil Nadu, 74.75 per cent have been vaccinated in two installments. 91.5 percent have been vaccinated for the first time. For booster vaccination, 41.66 per cent of those eligible have been vaccinated.

Next, the impact of the 3rd wave caused by the omega-3 virus was largely absent. Although the number of victims increased slightly, the infection did not cause serious illness or death. Thus we all come out of the corona impact and return to normal life through the efforts we have made together. The livelihood of the people is also gradually rising.

It is our chief duty

It is in this context that the number of cases in states like Delhi, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh has started rising again in the last one week. Medical scientists say the rise was caused by a new type of omega-3 virus. It is somewhat comforting that the death toll has not risen at present.

However we must all be prepared to face any one situation. The weapon we have to control the impact of this epidemic is the vaccine. Even if some of those who are vaccinated become infected, the risk of death is very, very low. Therefore, it is our chief duty to ensure that everyone who qualifies is vaccinated.

In particular, there are 1.48 crore people in Tamil Nadu who have not been vaccinated in the second installment. There are 11.68 lakh people who are eligible for booster vaccination. All of these people need to make sure they are vaccinated in the coming weeks.

Everyone should make sure to wear a mask in public and in public places. At the same time as ensuring that economic growth is not stunted and people’s livelihoods are not affected again, deaths from this epidemic must be prevented.

Our goal is to take immediate action. Therefore, all necessary steps should be taken by all government departments and district collectors.

Thus spoke the Chief Minister.

Minister of Health Ma Subramanian, Chief Secretary V. Iraiyanpu, DGP Silenthrababu and Health Secretary J. Radha Krishnan also participated in the event.
