New Covid-19 Variants Not Yet Widespread in Germany and Switzerland
As the world continues to battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, new lines of the virus have emerged, sparking concerns about their potential impact. However, in Germany and Switzerland, these new variants do not appear to be widespread.
In Germany, the variant known as “Eris” currently has the largest presence in the Federal Republic. Meanwhile, in Switzerland, the predominant variant is “XBB,” according to “Covid 19 Switzerland.”
In the United States, researchers have identified a new variant called JN.1, which is believed to be even more contagious than the Pirola variant. Kelly Oakson, a senior bioinformatics scientist at the Utah Public Health Laboratory, shared this information with “Merkur Online.”
In contrast, the HV.1 variant is said to be particularly noticeable in the USA, with 25 percent of new Covid cases occurring with this new variant at the end of October.
