Kollam- Salim Mannel (60), a vice president of Todiyur panchayat and a CPM leader, was beaten to death at his house in Edakulangara, Todiyur, during the conflict during the mediation talks. The police registered a case of murder.
Police say that on Friday evening, a conflict broke out between a young man of Palolikulangara Jamaat and a young woman belonging to another Jamaat to settle the marriage issue and during this, Salim was beaten up.
Salim is also the president of Palolikulangara Muslim Jamaat. Salim Mannel is a member of the CPM Edakulangara branch committee and a member of the village committee of the farmers’ group. Wife: Sheeja Salim. Children: Sajil (Contractor) and Vigil (Gulf). Daughter-in-law: Shabna and Tasni.
