New Delhi ∙ Union Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan welcomed Kerala CPM’s stance that VD Savarkar was merely a Hindutva and a coward. His reaction was to the CPM’s official Facebook page publishing Savarkar’s name in the list of brave patriots who spent time in Andaman Jail.
Muralidharan asked the CPM to apologize to the nation for coming against BJP’s move to honor Savarkar. Another hypocrisy in CPM’s stance has now come to light. CPM’s recognition that VD Savarkar is among the brave freedom fighters is good. He said that Savarkar was a brave patriot and the Bengal CPM had long accepted it by publishing the book.
Mocking the CPM’s claim, the minister said that the British government canceled all warrants in 1942 because the role of communists in the freedom struggle was huge. Savarkar is also listed along with the names of the leaders who were jailed from 1909 to 1921 published on the CPM page.
