The French Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, announced it in his general policy speech: a bill on active assistance in dying will be examined before the summer of 2024. Since 2016 in France, the Clayes-Leonetti law has made it possible to refuse , directly or through advance directives, any unreasonable medical obstinacy. This law authorizes deep and continuous sedation of end-of-life patients suffering from a terminal illness with a life-threatening prognosis. Too restrictive for certain doctors and patient associations, this law is criticized for only taking into account incurable patients in the short term.
