The truce plan in the Gaza Strip between the Israeli army and the radical Hamas movement includes a clause on the release of 400 Palestinian prisoners from prisons in exchange for the transfer to Israel of 40 hostages, including women, men over 50 years old and in serious condition.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, the American publication Axios reports this with reference to two American officials.

It is noted that such agreements were presented on February 23 in Paris at a meeting with representatives from the United States, Egypt and Qatar.

According to sources, the agreement implies a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for exactly six weeks – one day for each hostage released.

One of the sources cited the opinion of the head of the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, David Barnea. He estimates the chances of a successful deal to be “50/50”.

Hamas is still holding 134 hostages, according to Axios. Officials told the publication that US President Joe Biden intends to achieve a truce with Israel before the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, that is, before March 10.

To do this, the American leader enlisted the support of Egypt and Qatar, the main mediators in negotiations between Israel and Hamas.

Sources noted that so far the parties have not been able to reach a final agreement. Israel changed its mind and still has not yet begun to send its delegation to Cairo.

According to anonymous speakers from the Israeli publication The Times of Israel, this happened due to the fact that Hamas refused to provide a complete list of hostages.
