The Maha Shivratri padayatra was held at Periya Angala Iswari temple located in Shankarapuram area near Bodhinayakanur in Theni district. Padayatra event is held in this temple every year on Maha Shivratri. In this, devotees from Madurai district come to the temple on a padayatra, carrying milk jugs and dancing Kavadiattam. In this way, the Pathayatra event was held for the 37th year on Maha Shivratri.
On the occasion of Maha Shivratri, hundreds of devotees came from Madurai district via Seelayambatti and bathed in the Seelayambatti river and then made a pilgrimage to the Periya Angala Eswari temple located in Shankarapuram area. After this, all the devotees visited the goddess.
