Dietmar Bartsch on “unworldly” peace plans

by times news cr

Left-wing politician Dietmar Bartsch describes Zelensky’s ideas for peace as “unworldly” and calls for more diplomacy. But does Putin actually want to negotiate?

Dietmar Bartsch from the Left Party emphasized in t-online’s “Tagesbruch” podcast that the current Ukraine policy is misguided. “Defeating Russia is the wrong way,” said Bartsch, calling for more intensive diplomatic efforts and a quick ceasefire. In his opinion, the continuous arming of Ukraine with ever harder weapons is counterproductive and increases the risk of an escalation of the conflict. Bartsch warned: “That would ultimately lead to NATO intervening.”

The chairman of the Left Party in the Defense Committee also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace ideas as “unworldly.” But how exactly can peace be achieved? And can Putin really be forced to do this?
