(ANSA) – FLORENCE, MARCH 21 – A 65-year-old disabled man chained himself to his electric wheelchair this morning in front of the headquarters of the Tuscany Region in Piazza Duomo in Florence. The reasons for the protest which he, Marco Caruso, defines as “peaceful” concern the inclusion income and the right to healthcare. “After Easter – explained Caruso – I will move close to Palazzo Chigi in Rome and I will stay there until some institutional figure has a calm and civil discussion, with the due respect that is agreed on both sides, for the discrimination relating to the salary allowance inclusion and the accompanying law, both applications were in fact rejected by the INPS and for the right to care as established by Article 32 of our Constitution”.
The 65-year-old said he was undergoing treatment and on the waiting list for a shoulder operation. “I have two injuries to the rotary cuffs of my shoulders but, I’m only on the list for the right one.
Furthermore, since I can’t sleep in bed, with my pension amounting to around 600 euros, I also had to buy a healthcare chair. Then I have bursitis in my elbow due to my problems but they tell me to wait. It’s not fair.” (ANSA).
