During Zelensky’s visit to the US: Netanyahu and Putin talked

by time news

During the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States, Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin talked. Netanyahu’s office said today (Thursday) that the two discussed a number of issues, primarily the war in Ukraine.

It was also reported that Netanyahu told Putin that he hopes that a way will be found as soon as possible to end the war and the suffering caused by it. The message also states that Netanyahu told the Russian president that he is determined to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to curb its attempts to establish a military base on Israel’s northern border.

The Kremlin said that in the conversation “topical issues concerning the relations between the two countries and the situation in the international arena were discussed. Mutual confidence was expressed that the relations between the two countries will continue to develop gradually and contacts at various levels will continue. Putin wished Netanyahu a happy Hanukkah.”

Zelensky arrived last night for a quick visit to the White House, during which he met with the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and went up to address both houses of the American Congress. In his speech, the President of Ukraine warned against the cooperation being forged between Iran and Russia and asked for an increase in economic and military aid to his country. The American president has confirmed that he will give Ukraine $1.85 billion in aid that will include equipment and contracts for future ammunition.

“Russia found in Iran an ally in its genocidal policy,” said Zelensky. “One terrorist found another. It’s only a matter of time before they attack your other allies. If we don’t act now they will.’ The Ukrainian president thanked the American government for the support but emphasized the need for more aid, “We have artillery. Thank you very much. Is it enough? Frankly not.” He also emphasized the need for financial help, “This is not about charity but about investing in the future of democracy and freedom in the world. You can hasten our victory.”
