EHC Kloten has signed Stephan Mair as its new head coach. The 56-year-old Italian has signed a contract with us until the end of the season. He will take office next Monday and will be on the boards for the first time on Tuesday, January 30th in the game against Geneva-Servette.

Interim coach Larry Mitchell will be on the boards again for the two games on Friday against EV Zug and on Saturday against HC Ajoie. He will then return to his position as sports director.

Stephan Mair was head coach of the Swiss League team HC Thurgau for six seasons. After a detour back to Italy, where he launched his coaching career in 2007, he moved to the youth team at HC Ambri-Piotta this season. Mair was also head coach of the Schwenninger Wild Wings for two seasons.

The sporting management of EHC Kloten Sport AG is convinced that they have found the optimal solution for the final spurt of the season with Stephan Mair. Mair is considered an extremely meticulous worker who demands a lot from his team. In addition, the teams where the Italian was on the boards were always able to impress with their excellently organized defense.

EHCK cancels Hunter Garlent’s B license

The Canadian Hunter Garlent will join us from HC Thurgau after the end of the season in the Swiss League. The EHC Kloten has obtained the corresponding B license.

Garlent has collected 36 points in 40 games for HC Thurgau this season (14 goals, 22 assists). Garlent also fell in the previous two seasons in Germany with 72 points from 47 games. 63 points from 52 games through strong scoring values ​​and was voted Striker of the Year last year.

EHC Kloten also has the B license for goalkeeper Luis Janett. The 23-year-old is currently with HC Thurgau and made his National League debut for the EHCK this season. He will also be available to us as a backup after the end of the season in the Swiss League.
