Bangladesh Combined Professional Council convener Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain said, Ekush’s message is not to bow down. Keeping the rights and ownership of the country. However, the ruling government has spoiled the dreams of people by depriving them of freedom of speech, democracy, voting rights in various ways. The self-sacrifice of twenty-one martyrs in the language movement will give impetus to the struggle to bring back the democratic rights lost in this difficult time of the nation.

He said this to reporters after laying a wreath on behalf of the Bangladesh Combined Professional Council at the central Shahid Minar of the capital on Wednesday (February 21).

Dr. Zahid said, Ekush’s unwavering spirit will inspire people to stop the brutal dictatorial forces that are taking away their basic rights. Language martyrs are our source of inspiration to claim rights and protest against injustice. The great 21st February served as the first step in the development of our nationhood and establishment as an independent nation. 21st February is not only the day of establishing mother tongue, but also the day of our first struggle for independence, freedom and liberation. The glorious example of self-sacrifice they have set by sacrificing their lives for mother tongue has inspired us in various movements and struggles in the later times.

Quader Gani Chowdhury said, February 11 is the eternal holder and bearer of our human rights. Twenty one is our consciousness of liberation. This spirit is not being followed everywhere in Bangladesh today. By taking away the fundamental and democratic rights of the people, the current government has made the color of Ekush’s spirit colorless and pale. Creating walls of division between the nations, which is completely against the spirit of the Great Twenty One and the Liberation War. Therefore, the spirit of Ekush should always be awakened to make the future generation of this golden Bengal aware and build it as a good citizen. In no way can it be allowed to fade.

Highlighting the sacrifice of language martyrs, he said, following their sacrifices, we have entered the freedom war on the path of democratic and independence movement. We have established independent-sovereign Bangladesh. By destroying that spirit, the stone of one-party rule has been placed on the shoulders of the people. People have been cheated by disenfranchising sometimes through voterless elections, sometimes midnight elections, and sometimes through dummy elections. Thousands of opposition leaders including Begum Khaleda Zia, the most popular leader of the country, have been unjustly imprisoned and executed for revenge in a false case organized by illegal forces to prolong this misrule by burying democracy.

At this time, member secretary of Bangladesh Combined Professional Council and Secretary General of Bangladesh Federal Journalist Union Quader Gani Chowdhury, Professor Dr. Lutfar Rahman, Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, Dr. Mehdi Hasan, Engineer Moslem Uddin, Engineer Sakhawat Hossain, Dr. Ekramul Reza Tipu, Dr. Shamsul Alam, Dr. Humayun Kabir, Dr. Al Amin, Dr. Humayun Kabir, Principal Salim Mia, Engineer Mahmudul Hasan, Engineer Nazim Uddin, Engineer Sultan Hossain Shishir, Biplabuzzaman Biplab, Hafizur Rahman etc.
