Election Controversy in Chennai: Suriyamurthy Demands Double Leaf Symbol Not Assigned

by time news

Chennai: Suriyamurthy from Dindigul has filed a new petition demanding that the Election Commission directs the election officials not to assign the double leaf symbol to anyone.

S. Suriyamoorthy from Dindigul had filed a petition in the Election Commission that AIADMK General Secretary Palaniswami should not be allotted the double leaf symbol in the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission had ordered Palaniswami to answer this. In the reply filed by Palaniswami, Suriyamurthy was not a basic member of AIADMK. The reply was that he had no right to file a petition regarding the symbol.

Meanwhile, K.C. Suren and Ramkumar Adithan, in their petition to the Election Commission, insisted that instead of Palaniswami, the president of the party should be ordered to sign the election documents, Forms A and B.

In this case, Suriyamurthy submitted another petition to the Election Commission yesterday. It said: Civil court has not issued any order that I am not a member of AIADMK till date.

Therefore, as various civil cases are pending, the election authorities should be instructed not to allocate the double leaf symbol to the Palaniswami party or to other persons. This is stated in the petition.
