They vote in a total of 719 sections in 57 countries

The elections for the 51st National Assembly start this evening at 21:00 Bulgarian time and will end at 05:00 in the morning on October 28, 2024. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Due to the time difference, our compatriots in Auckland, New Zealand will cast their vote first. There, the electoral section opened today at 21:00 Bulgarian time. The latter will close the polling stations on the West Coast of the USA and Canada, where the election day is expected to end at 5:00 a.m. Bulgarian time on Monday, October 28, 2024.

Bulgarian citizens abroad will be able to exercise their right to vote in a total of 719 polling stations in 57 countries. The most sections will be opened in Turkey – 168, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland – 112, Germany – 66, Spain – 64, USA – 53, Italy – 27, Netherlands -25, Greece – 23, France – 17, Austria and Belgium by 16, Canada – 15 sections.

Machine voting will take place in a total of 157 sections – 79 machines in Turkey, 21 in Germany, 14 in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, 6 each in Spain and the USA, 5 each in Austria and Greece, 4 in the Netherlands, 3 each in France and Belgium, 2 each in Canada, Cyprus, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, 1 machine each in Luxembourg, Norway and Serbia.

All 157 voting machines were delivered on time to the machine voting sections by air to distant destinations and by own transport to the countries close to Bulgaria.

The diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Bulgaria are in contact with the local authorities and are ready to respond to any difficulties that arise in order to guarantee the right to vote of Bulgarian citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its gratitude to the Bulgarian communities abroad, who actively participated and provided assistance in the preparation and organization of the vote abroad.
