Mumbai-based Indian multinational JSW Group has announced an incentive scheme of Rs 3 lakh for employees purchasing electric vehicles (EVs). This applies to the purchase of four-wheelers and two-wheelers. The new move is part of the company’s Green initiative. The JSW Group Electric Vehicle Policy (JSW EV Policy) aims to make electric vehicles more acceptable to the company’s employees.

In addition to providing financial support, the company will also provide specialized charging stations and electric vehicle parking slots (green zones) for employees at all JSW offices and plants free of charge. The company added that the new policy is in line with the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) Sustainable Development Conditions (SDS) and India’s National Determine Contributions (NDC).

“India’s transport sector is currently the third largest emitter of carbon dioxide (CO2). Since electric vehicles are more efficient than traditional IC engine vehicles, the JSW EV Policy, effective January 2022, will set a standard for others to follow. Electric vehicles are not only environmentally friendly, but also inexpensive, ”said Dilip Pattanayak, JSW Group President and CHRO.

At the COP26 meeting in Glasgow, our esteemed Prime Minister announced that India will strive to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2070. JSW Group’s new EV policy is a unique initiative to increase the acceptance of electric vehicles in India and enable green transportation. The company will move forward responsibly with a focus on mitigating environmental impacts while remaining a leader in the field of sustainable development. The aim is to cultivate interest in corporate and government institutions in their efforts to bring India’s carbon emissions to zero by 2070, ‘said Sajjan Jindal, Chairman, JSW Group.

JSW Steel Ltd. has adopted a unique climate change policy and aims to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 42% by 2030. JSW Steel India operates a 100 TPD Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) system.
