The American automaker Tesla may soon come to the Russian market, said the founder of the company, Elon Musk. “I think that we will soon be present in Russia and Tesla will soon be in Russia,” he said, speaking on Friday, May 21, via video link at the Russian marathon Novoye Znanie.

Musk also noted that Tesla’s presence in the region will also cover Kazakhstan and other CIS countries. He did not rule out the construction of a Tesla plant in the Russian Federation in the future. “We have a factory in Shanghai, we are also building in Berlin, Texas, California and we want to have factories in other parts of the world. Potentially we are considering the Russian Federation,” he said.

The construction of the German Tesla factory will be completed by the end of 2021

A few days ago, Musk announced that the Tesla gigafibrika in the German federal state of Brandenburg will begin car production at the end of 2021. Initially slated to begin production in July, Tesla changed the construction proposal to include the world’s largest battery plant, along with Tesla’s only electric vehicle plant in Europe. Since the additions to the construction plan require careful scrutiny by the regional authorities and the public, a delay of several months is expected.

For the first time, the head of Tesla announced his plan to build a gigafactory near Berlin in November 2019. The design capacity of the plant is 500 thousand electric vehicles per year. The construction of Gigafactory 4, which began in the first quarter of 2020, is progressing at a record pace for modern Germany. Initially, Tesla intends to hire 12,000 people, but local authorities assume that by the end of the decade, the enterprise could create up to 40,000 jobs.
