Emergency Situations Ministry planes arrive in Cairo for Russians who left the Gaza Strip

by time news

Two special flights of the Russian Emergencies Ministry arrived in Cairo from Zhukovsky near Moscow, which will take away Russians and CIS citizens who have decided to leave the Gaza Strip because of the armed conflict between Palestine and Israel. TASS reports.

According to the agency, around 23:10 local time (00:10 Friday Moscow time), the special flights one after another landed in Cairo. Earlier, at the airport of departure it was reported that An-148 and Il-76 EMERCOM planes took off for the Russians. “There they will take away almost a hundred Russians who left the Gaza Strip,” the agency’s source said.

This is the second evacuation of Russians from the Gaza Strip. Prior to that, on May 26, 64 citizens of the Russian Federation were evacuated through Egypt. Those wishing to leave Gaza crossed the border through the Rafah border crossing, where they were met by Russian diplomats, after which they were taken to Cairo.

Large-scale clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police have continued since May 8. They began because of the decision of the Israeli court to evict Arab families. This led to an aggravation of the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip. On May 21, the parties agreed to a ceasefire. Note that Cairo is trying to achieve a sustainable ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian group “Hamas” before the change of the Israeli leadership.
