Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country will continue to make efforts to resolve regional conflicts, including the Russian-Ukrainian one, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
“Previously, we were faced with a military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. It became a shock for many areas and led to further difficult processes. This affected energy, food, and the military sphere. Turkey played an active role in attempts to achieve a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, and implemented a grain deal “, we have made serious efforts. And I am confident that Turkey will continue to work in this context to achieve results to resolve this and other conflicts,” Erdogan said at the World Government Summit in Dubai, in which he is participating as an honorary guest.
The Turkish leader once again noted that “the world is more than five” countries, referring to the issue of the UN Security Council, which, according to Ankara, requires reform and expansion of the number of participants. “The world is now going through a dark period, when one crisis, not ending, provokes a new one. We saw this with the example of the pandemic crisis. When there was light at the end of the tunnel, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine broke out,” Erdogan said, pointing out that the situation then led to tensions in the Middle East. These conflicts, he said, provoked “both the arms race and problems in the field of illegal migration.”
“But despite the bloodshed and destruction, we are still convinced that a just world is still possible. Every problem that does not receive a solution becomes larger. You cannot find a solution by sweeping the problem under the rug. And the current painful example of this is the situation with Gaza Strip,” Erdogan said.
He noted that in some humanitarian areas, the fight against hunger, and the creation of decent living conditions, the world community “cannot pass the exam.” At the same time, Turkey, according to the president, will continue diplomatic work and will not stop making efforts to find ways to resolve ongoing conflicts.
